Chargers can emit various sounds depending on stage and load.
Sometimes you can hear a buzzing sound in light load charge situation as in the last phase of step 4 (absorption step) or in the float step in the charge program. (Float = first maintenance mode, first green light)
This depends on small variations in charge current that causes the transformer inside the charger electronics to make the buzz sound.
This situation will not cause any harm to the battery or the battery charger.
By placing the charger on a non-sound conducting surface the sound can be minimized somewhat.
In other situations you may hear a clicking sound, particulary during certain stages of charging when the charger is working hard to charge the battery and checking regularly what the battery requires – the clicking noise is a relay operating during this checking stage. This is also normal and will not cause any harm to the battery or the charger.
